Spider veins are small red, blue or purple superficial leg or facial veins. They can be a result of sun exposure, use of oral contraception, hormone therapy, age or genetics.
We have multiple devices to treat the small spider veins. These include laser therapy and a combined bi-polar radio frequency light energy therapy. Occasionally, Sclerotherapy may be appropriate for larger spider veins. The treatment best suited for you will be determined at your initial complimentary consultation.
The majority of people can be safely treated with our technology. Laser treatments will not be performed on pregnant women. If you have diabetes, poor circulation, a history of poor healing, take a blood thinner or take a Ginkgo or iron supplement please inform our skin care specialists. They will help determine if this is a safe procedure for you.
The ideal candidate will also be willing to commit to avoiding direct sun exposure and visiting tanning booths before and immediately after their laser treatments.

The laser energy passes through the skin and targets the blood vessels. The energy is absorbed by the pigment in the blood and causes selective damage to the blood vessel wall. The walls of the vessel collapse and eventually fade from sight.
Try to minimize tanning 1-2 weeks prior to your treatment. A fresh tan can interfere with the effectiveness of the laser.
Please do not wear any makeup or lotion on the area to be treated. It may interfere with the absorption of the laser energy. Heating the makeup may also cause skin irritation or even burning. Makeup may gently be reapplied immediately after your laser treatment.
Please shave or clip the hair on the area being treated. The skin is less sensitive if the hair is removed. Excess hair can absorb and waste the laser energy, preventing it from reaching the vein.
You may find it helpful to take two or three plain Tylenol two hours prior to coming in for treatment.

The staff will apply a cooling gel and may also apply ice to the treatment area prior to starting. A cooling device is used when the laser is being applied to aid in your comfort. Some clients may also use a topical anesthetic, although the majority of people do not need this. You may feel a pinching sensation or feel as if someone snapped you with a rubber band. You can expect your treatment to last anywhere from several minutes to two hours depending on the size and number of areas treated.
Most patients will require 2-3 treatments for the best results. The redder veins may require up to 5 and can be resistant to removal. No physician can predict whether your veins will completely disappear, but the majority will.
Very little care is necessary after your treatments. Applying a moisturizer generously is recommended as your skin may be drier than usual. Sun exposure or tanning is not recommended for 1-2 weeks after your treatment, as you will be more likely to burn. If you are going to be in the sun be sure to apply a full-spectrum sunscreen.
No clinic should claim that you will never have another spider or varicose vein after you are finished with your treatment. Aging, sun exposure, certain medicines and future medical problems can lead to the formation of new spider veins. The lasers will generally remove the veins you have now, but do not have any effect on the formation of new veins in the future.
Spider veins are usually considered cosmetic and as a result most insurance companies will not cover the treatments. We have several payment plans available for your convenience.
